Built in the 1920s, Aldwych House boasts stunning period architecture with chic modern interior décor. Located between the Thames and the LSE, the building is home to four floors of serviced office space. At the top of the structure is a private roof terrace, offering a place to enjoy the outdoors with panoramic views of the City. This striking building on Aldwych Crescent has been transformed with a dynamically lit façade.

The building recently underwent an extensive refurbishment, with a significant focus on enhancing its exterior lighting, particularly on the building’s façade.  This renovation not only aimed to illuminate the structure but also incorporated the introduction of dynamic lighting systems.

Utilising several SL45 Power Balanced RGBW luminaires from leading lighting manufacturer TRYKA and the Expert control system from Pharos Architectural Controls, ECS were brought into the project to programme and commission the façade lighting and assist with install fault finding.

ECS programmed the system so that Aldwych House can now use its illuminated façade to align colours and patterns with important calendar events and holidays.  The first significant display was for the King’s Coronation, with many other special dates being celebrated since then.

The result is a strikingly vibrant and adaptable lighting display that not only highlights the building’s architectural features but also allows for a dynamic and responsive interaction with the surrounding community.
